Syd Barhey

BSc BFP FCA

Five Rivers Chartered Accountants is managed by Sukhraj Barhey (known to his friends and business colleagues as “Syd”) who lives and works in Rugby.  Having been born in Warwick, schooled in Rugby and worked in Coventry, Syd has spent all of his life in the area and knows it well.

After getting his degree in biochemistry from UMIST in 1985, Syd qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in Birmingham before pursuing a successful career in industry, eventually becoming Finance Director in a number of the UK’s largest and most successful businesses in their sectors. Over the years, he has acquired a wealth of finance and commercial leadership experience which he now shares with his SME clients in helping them grow and flourish.

Whilst his accountancy training ensures that he is well equipped to deal with his clients’ basic tax and accounting affairs, his broader finance experience in areas such as business planning, strategy, management reporting, buying and selling businesses, systems and e-commerce coupled with his all-round commercial flair mean that he has a well-developed sense of what good in business looks like. Customers appreciate his down-to-earth style and his ability to cut through the jargon and demystify a complicated subject leaving them to concentrate on what they do best – running their business.

So, if you are looking for a locally based accountant who will take the time to understand what you do and is committed to working alongside you as a partner to help grow your business, get in touch now to arrange an initial no-cost discussion at a time and place that suits you. Why Five Rivers?

No, there aren’t five rivers in Rugby or even in Warwickshire - at least as far as we know!

Instead, the business takes its name from the Punjab in India whose name literally translates as "the land of five rivers” and from where Syd traces his roots and heritage.

Punjabis are known the world over for their humour, honesty, bravery and no-nonsense approach to life – qualities that find their way into every aspect of the practice that Syd runs.

So if it’s a straightforward down to earth approach to running your business you are looking for, you’ve come to the right place.
